The 14th Dragoons were now constituted a corps of Light Dragoons in Ireland.

The standard height of men and horses was reduced. Cocked hats were replaced by helmets.

Arms and appointments of a lighter pattern were adopted and the regiment was designated the ’14th Light Dragoons’.

Two new standards and new saddles and bridles were issued this year also.
