Colonel F. B. Hurndall MC

Frank Brereton Hurndall was born in 1883 and enlisted into the 20th Hussars on 22 April 1903.

He was promoted to Lieutenant on 21 July 1906 and promoted to Captain on 15 July 1911. He held the rank of Captain for the duration of World War One as adjutant at the outbreak of war.

He temporarily Commanded the Regiment when the Commanding Officer was wounded, during this period he was awarded the Military Cross.

He was a prominent polo player in the England team in the 1924 International Westchester Polo Cup against the USA.

He was Commanding Officer of the Regiment from 1925 to 1929. Between the wars he commanded a brigade at Tidworth.

He was Colonel of the Regiment from 1937 to 1947.
