Letterhead of the 14th (King’s) Hussars
A letterhead that I came across on eBay. The header titles the Regiment as: 14th The King's Hussars not as I have always understood them to be 14th (King's) Hussars, a slight difference but a difference all the same.
Albert Ernest (Bert) Hurst
Born on 30 June 1888 at Kentish Town, Albert Hurst enlisted in the Hussars of the Line in 1908. Drafted to the 14th (King’s) Hussars in India, he served for five years with the Colours before returning home on being transferred to the Reserve.
The Emperor
The most treasured possession of the 14th King' s Hussars (then the 14th/20th King's Hussars) is "The Emperor " which is the Regimental name for the solid silver bedroom utensil of King Joseph Bonaparte of Spain, whose short reign began in 1808 and finished with the defeat of Napoleon's armies in Spain by the British and Spanish armies in 1813.
