20th Hussar Scouts

Here the 20th Hussars are scouting, looking for enemy positions ahead of the advancing infantry and artillery during the First World War. When they made contact with the enemy they would report that back to those advancing troops.

Hunt Button

This is apparently a Hunt Button of the 20th Hussars. It is not known if the xHx had their own hounds for hunting however it would seem they did have a hunt button which would have been worn on their tunics whilst hunting.

20th Hussars Brooch

20th Hussars White Faced Enamel Cavalry Sweetheart Brooch (from the 1914 - 1918 period). A rare original First World War period '20th Hussars white faced enamel sweetheart brooch'. Ornate gilt oval, inlaid with white enamel, depicting a "Crowned XHX" resting on title scroll with a height of about 23mm.

The 20th Hussars, originally raised in Inniskilling in 1759, served only in wartime until 1862, and being a junior regiment, was subjected to a number of disbandments after each successive conflict.
